NAPO cancels Lobby Day, Legislative Luncheon, reschedules TOP COPS Awards due to COVID-19

Posted by: jgomori Posted date: March 19, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, NAPO notified members the 2020 TOPS COPS Awards, planned for May 14, will be rescheduled for later this year. NAPO’s Lobby Day and Legislative Luncheon, originally set for May 13, are now canceled.

“All the NAPO elected officers, as well as our own in house staff, in evaluating the current public health situation as well as the outside recommendations and prohibitions from the CDC, the Office of the President, the U.S. Capitol Complex, the U.S. Congress , the District of Columbia government, and the State of Maryland government, unanimously see this the same way.  It is not possible, (in fact it would be illegal under the current executive orders) to hold our event as originally scheduled,” wrote NAPO Executive Director Bill Johnson in an email to members.
