JOHN A. LYONS
University of Detroit, PhB; JD. Before joining the Police Officers Labor
Council, John was a Labor representative and supervisor (Steel Mill);
he was on the Labor Relations Staff and Arbitration Representative of
Ford Motor Company. John was also a Trial attorney for Oakland County
Prosecutors office. Labor Issues include collective bargaining negotiations,
administration, pension, fringe benefits, discipline, employment discrimination;
state and federal court experience; panel member and advocate in compulsory
interest arbitration; over 25 years experience as neutral in private and
public sector disputes involving many different industries including automotive,
trucking, warehouse, drug, manufacturing, tool, beverage, newspaper, paper,
steel service industries, hospital, teachers, fire fighters, and other
state, county and municipal employee groups and issues. John is a member
of the Michigan State Bar Association, Oakland County Bar Association
and the Association for Conflict Resolution |

Tom
joined the staff of John A. Lyons, P.C. in October, 2004. He graduated
cum laude from Michigan State University Detroit College of Law in 1997.
Tom was an associate attorney with John Goldpaugh & Associates for
nearly five years where he focused on union representation for the Detroit
Police Officers Association. He represented Detroit Officers during disciplinary
cases, investigations, and critical incidents such as police shootings.
Prior to his career as an attorney, Tom was a public safety officer for
over eleven years with the City of Berkley. He served as president of
the Officers Association and negotiated several contracts. Tom earned
officer of the year honors and earned several commendations including
two life saving awards. |

BRENDAN CANFIELD
Attorney. Received a Bachelor of Arts (Honors), Oakland University. Attended Wayne State University Law School receiving a Juris Doctor (Honors). He has worked as a business defense attorney, and importantly, spent two years working for the Michigan Employment Relations Commission in a legal clerkship. He assisted in drafting decisions relative to labor disputes regarding public employees under the Public Employee Relations Act (PERA) and Labor Mediation Act (LMRA). Brendan has a particular interest in labor relations with a strong training emphasis in labor law, employment law, labor relations, collective bargaining, labor history and contract negotiations.
