Registration is open to attend and participate in National Police Week 2026 events. There are separate registration deadlines to participate in individual D.C. events and local events are also being organized.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls as National Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
National and local Police Week 2026 events are listed on the Police Officers Labor Council (POLC) May 2026 Events Calendar. Check the POLC Calendar often for updates as events are announced in the weeks leading up to the official National Police Week dates of May 10-16, 2026. Please note that some events are scheduled in advance of the official dates.
The fallen, whose names are engraved on the National Law Enforcement Memorial Wall in 2026, will be formally dedicated during the 38th Annual Candlelight Vigil at 8 p.m. on May 13th. The Vigil, which will be held on the National Mall, will be livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook.
