Visitation for Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Deputy William Butler Jr., who was fatally shot June 27 while assisting with a traffic stop, is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, followed by his funeral service on Wednesday, July 3.
Deputy Butler served Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office for 12 years and was in the United States Army National Guard for 20 years, serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. July 2 at the Hillsdale Assembly of God Church. Deputy Butler’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. July 3, 2024 at the Hillsdale College Christ Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Hillsdale.
The 51-year-old leaves behind his wife, Sarah, and five children: Devon Butler, Kylee (James) Mallison, and Teagan, Trigg, and Tatum Butler. He is also survived by his parents and two grandchildren.
