Excerpted from National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund

Whether you choose to travel to Washington D.C. or stay home, Police Weekend 2024 offers an interactive way to honor law enforcement.

Registration is open for the 2024 National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Run and other Police Weekend events occurring Friday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Sept. 29.

Participate in the Memorial Run individually or as a team any time during Police Weekend 2024. Join participants from across the country by running, walking, biking or even walking your dog in your neighborhood while wearing your participant tee and bib in honor of fallen officers. Organized by the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund (NLEOMF), you can show your support for law enforcement while raising needed funds for NLEOMF to honor the fallen and make policing safer for those who serve.

“We are excited to once again host the Nationwide Memorial Run during Police Weekend,” said National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund CEO Bill Alexander. “This event is a fantastic way to support law enforcement, generates excitement for our Museum that is the only one of its kind in the entire country, bolsters the special programs that our hard-working staff put on and promotes activity and fun for people from all backgrounds and experiences. Our hope is to see people join together for law enforcement in every community, across the United States.”

In addition to their shirt and bib, participants receive a medallion and can win special NLEOMF gear as they achieve milestones while running to raise funds.

Police Weekend 2024 Washington D.C. events kick off with the Annual Awards Ceremony and Reception on Sept. 27 at the National Law Enforcement Museum. The ceremony recognizes officers and agencies who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and developed programs to save officer lives. Those chosen to be honored will receive: 2024 Officer of the Month awards, Destination Zero Officer Safety and Wellness Awards, and the 2024 Ambassador Impact Award.

The official opening of the new Officers As Artists exhibition at the National Law Enforcement Officers Museum is Sept. 27. Among the 50 artists featured is Michigan resident Lisa Flahive, a retired Las Vegas Police Officer and the sister of fallen Grand Haven Department of Public Safety Officer Scott Flahive (EOW 12-13-94).

The Washington Nationals have joined with the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund to host their annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day baseball game at 6:45 p.m. Sept. 27. The game against the Phillies at Nationals Park in Washington D. C. honors the men and women who serve as law enforcement officers, corrections officers, public safety and first responders. Specially priced seating starts as low as $16 for all public safety, family, friends and the general public. A $5 donation to NLEOMF is made from each ticket purchased. Click here to buy your Washington Nationals tickets today

Register today to participate in the Museum’s free Open House on Saturday, Sept. 28, which will feature family-friendly activities, demonstrations and immersive educational experiences.
