National Police Week 2025 plans are taking shape with several events planned in Washington D.C. Register with National Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) to participate and book discounted hotel rooms.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, National Police Week. National Police Week
(May 11-17, 2025) pays special recognition to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. The 2025 "Roll Call of Heroes” Engraving Ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. EST on Monday, April 14, 2025. The names of 148 officers who died in the line of duty in 2024 and 197 officers who died in previous years will be inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial between April 14 and the end of the month. The 148 deaths in 2024 represent a 25 percent increase in line-of-duty deaths in comparison to 2023. The fallen will be honored during the 37th Annual Candlelight Vigil held on the National Mall at 8 p.m. on May 13th.
