POLC and GELC Stewards will have the opportunity to expand upon their labor relations expertise by participating in a free POLC/GELC Spring Steward Seminar in April.
Register today to attend the Eastside Spring Steward Seminar, scheduled from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at Warren F.O.P. Hall, 11304 E. 14 Mile Road, Warren, MI 48093. The seminar begins with check-in, coffee, and a light breakfast and concludes with lunch provided at Noon.
A wide array of topics will be covered through presentations by Union Staff and guests. POLC/GELC Legal Staff will discuss Garrity, Weingarten, Loudermill, grievance procedures, Steward responsibilities, critical incidents, and PORAC Legal Defense Fund. The Unions' Research Analyst Nancy Ciccone and State Labor Mediator Thomas R. Zulch will have separate presentations on the topics of fact-finding, 312 preparation, 312 trends, and negotiations. POLC/GELC Director Jim Stachowski will provide the latest MCOLES updates while MERS of Michigan Regional Manager Mike Overley and Staff will speak about MERS pension and retirement updates.
