SAVE THE DATE FOR ANNUAL CONFERENCE AT NEW LAKESHORE VENUE
May 09, 2025

Save the date for the POLC/GELC Annual Meeting and Labor Seminar, which will be hosted at a new lakeshore venue this year and features a new motivational speaker, whose law enforcement background spans 27 years.

The Conference will be held at Delamar Traverse City from Wednesday, Sept. 10 through Friday, Sept. 12, 2025.

Guests can enjoy waterfront dining and spectacular views with floor-to-ceiling windows at the lakeshore hotel, which is located between Grand Traverse Bay and the hiking trails and scenic bike paths. Delamar Traverse City offers relaxing diversions, including guided outdoor experiences, indoor and outdoor heated pools, a whirlpool hot tub and sauna.

Internationally renowned speaker Paul Butler will be the featured speaker at the POLC/GELC Conference. Butler is a motivational speaker focused on leadership, who served as a police officer, sergeant, crisis negotiator, and became Aynor (South Carolina) Chief of Police at the age of 22, making him the youngest police chief in the history of South Carolina. Butler also served as Horry County (South Carolina) Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy, where he was selected to attend the FBI National Academy in 2005. His academy class chose Butler to be their graduation day speaker, alongside then-FBI Director Robert Mueller. Butler currently serves as the official Master of Ceremonies for the FBI National Academy Associates and the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association at their annual training conferences.

Conference attendees will also have the choice of enjoying an afternoon on the golf course during the Annual POLC/GELC Golf Outing at The Crown Golf Club or joining the Return to the Libation Tour. Tour participants will be transported in a luxury coach from the Delamar up the scenic Leelanau Peninsula to visit a winery, brewery, and distillery, where drinks can be purchased.

Mark your calendar to engage with fellow union members from around the state while learning more about important labor relations issues.
